The Standard is a unique chain of boutique hotels, the most famous now often referred to as The Standard High Line in New York City. The original hotel, it’s an 18-story luxury boutique property in New York City’s Meatpacking District, a trendy neighborhood of fashion, restaurants, and boutiques. The building actually stradles an elevated park called the High Line, one of the city’s newest pride and joys. Five huge sculptured piers hold the hotel 17 meters or 57 feet above the street and park below. It has become a landmark of Lower Manhattan because of its unique structure and design.
The group has opened other hotels as well – in East Village of New York, Hollywood and Downtown LA in Los Angeles, and there is a spa property at Miami Beach, too. One unique thing about their hotels is that, the name is always displayed upside down, even on their websites.
Here’s a little info about what makes each property in The Standard chain special:
The Standard New York – This 18-story boutique NYC hotel over the High Line is the most famous of the brand. The rooftop bar is incredible, offering amazing views of the city and the Hudson River. World famous DJs are often seen playing here.
The Standard, Hollywood – The Hollywood hotel is located on Sunset Strip and also boasts beautiful views. The rooms are very comfortable and are decorated with distinct colors, with a preference for blue and orange. Guests can enjoy common areas like the cactus lounge, the lobby, and 24/7 restaurants.
The Standard, Miami Beach – The hotel in Miami Beach is a world-famous hydrotherapy spa destination. Check out the aroma steam rooms, relax in the hamam, and get dirty in the mud lounge. Get centered with waterfront yoga and treat you outer layer to some pampering at the skin care clinic. Trainers offer classes of tai chi, pilates, and many other fitness workshops. The Lido Bar and Lounge is just the right place for hanging out after a relaxing and rejuvenating spa experience.
The Standard, Downtown LA – This property has become a landmark too. You can get dazzling views both of the city and the mountains beyond from the Biergarten and bar. The marbled lobby lounge is a feast for the eyes. There is also a 24=hour business center for those who need it.
The Standard, East Village – This is a 21-story, pet-friendly hotel in the heart of the East Village. There are 145 suites and rooms here, all of them tastefully decorated. Italian sheets make the beds very comfortable. Large floor-to-ceiling windows provide great views.
There really is nothing standard about this refreshingly cool family of boutique hotels.
